2019.03.16 Cascais - Forte S. Jorge Oitavos

O Forte de S. Jorge de Oitavos (perto de Cascais) foi construído entre 1642 e 1648, após a restauração da independência de Portugal, para proteger a aproximação à cidade de Lisboa por mar. A sua arquitetura militar é do tipo baluarte.
Hoje no seu interior tem um centro de interpretação, com um núcleo museológico onde para além de armas e fardamentos (entre 1760 e 1811) podemos ver instrumentos utilizados no paiol de pólvora.

The Fort of S. Jorge de Oitavos (near Cascais) was built between 1642 and 1648, after the restoration of the independence of Portugal, to protect the approach to the city of Lisbon by sea. Its military architecture is of the bastion type.
Today inside it has an interpretation center, with a museum nucleus where in addition to weapons and uniforms (between 1760 and 1811) we can see instruments used in the gunpowder magazine.

Le fort de Saint-Georges d'Oitavos (près de Cascais) a été construit entre 1642 et 1648, après la restauration de l'indépendance du Portugal, afin de protéger l'accès à la ville de Lisbonne par voie maritime.
Son architecture militaire est du type bastion.Il abrite aujourd'hui un centre d'interprétation, avec un petit musée où, outre les armes et les uniformes (entre 1760 et 1811), on peut voir les instruments utilisés dans le magasin à poudre.
